Simple tips for search engine optimization

Simple search engine optimization
On page Search engine optimization (SEO) simple? When you build clusters of keywords using this system it is. The techniques we started with are as effective now as they were in Jan 2011 when we started using them. We have several articles pulling readers using nothing more than these simple techniques and no back linking.
Realize when you are writing you are trying to reach an audience. You want people to read what you have written. It is what you title your article that will usually contain the words your audience is searching for. Choose them wisely. The approach we use is choosing words then searching them. It is rare now for us to actually open anything we find in the search. We do read what the search engine has picked up because this gives us ideas and other words which might be more effective. It also helps us pick the niche we want to be found in.
Remember that not every keyword is searched often. There are free tools that let you know how often certain words are searched but for this article we are not going to go into them. We are going to use an example from our own work. We find doing simple searches enjoyable.
Say you are writing an article on training a horse. Horse would be the first word you would search. As of today May 18, 2012 this brings up 73,900,000 results. Horse training brings up 27,900,000 results. Although breaking a horses spirit is something we have no intention of we learned breaking is more often searched. It has . Since our goal is to let people know there are approaches other than breaking we use it. The search for breaking brings up results up to 49,100,000 results May 18, 2012. It’s going to take a really well optimized article to hit the top of that niche.
We don’t like pain for us or any animal so lets add gentle. Now we are down to 403,000 results and with this keyword cluster we are ranked page 1. Since we are not alone in believing it is better to be gentle these keywords are searched thus bringing us readers because they are finding us on page 1 of a search engine. We have also narrowed our niche bringing in the readers we really want. As time passes Google adds relevance for linking and sharing. We just found this article page 1 against 115,000.000 competitors. April 21 2012. It is also ranking on several page one slots. Now for the keyword cluster gentle breaking a horse. May 18, 2012. The competition is now 1,720,000 for these keywords it is page one top of page.
This is what simple search engine optimization is all about. Putting your article in front of the audience you are writing to. All the fancy programs in the world can only speed up the process. Learning to do it the simple way is really the best. Once you have this down in reality you are dependent upon one thing. Your brain is the best search engine optimizer that exists.
For our example article we used the title and on the platform we used we were able to add a summary which contains our keywords gentle breaking once and horse twice. If you can find a way to do it you can add your keywords to your summary up to three times before they start considering an article spam. You have to use sentences that make sense because if you don’t you just hit the spam list. WE KNOW because we like many learned the hard way.
It is recommended to make your keywords bold if the platform allows. You can also use your keywords in sub titles again if the platform allows. If pictures are allowed and you can find a way to use your keywords in some way that is recommended. In our example article we used this method. This is especially if you place the picture at the top right hand side of the article.
The rule of thumb is make sure to use your keywords close together in any order one time within your article. Up dated after the latest Panda. Having them within the first two sentences is probably the most important. If you can’t put a summary in these first few sentences are what a search engine is going to pick up and what people will see when searching for you. You want your keywords there because this is what your article should be about.
Around the center use them again make them fit and make it feel like there is a reason for them to be there. They don’t have to be in order or even in the same sentence just within sixty five characters of each other.
Search bots search the entire article looking for keywords and sometimes we have found that by using this method it is actually this grouping we are finding on search engines. This works especially well when you can’t add a summary. Even when you can use a summary doing this is showing your keywords are relevant.
Somewhere along the way we learned that in good writing your final paragraph is a summary of what you have written. We don’t always use this paragraph properly but now make sure our keywords are in it. This again to show our keywords are relevant to the article.
The reason people write is to have what they have written read. It is just a waste of brain power to write if what you have written is not being found. You can now see that search engine optimization is simple if you use these tips and your brain.

Breaking it down! Thank you. SEO is always changing and evolving but some things will never change. Thanks for the refresher in my mind.
Very good article. Is there a way you can go back in and edit a summary? I have not found a way, and I know in some of mine, I neglected to include key words. Thanks.
As I have recently gathered a few more new hubbers following me, I wanted to return to share these valuable tips. The first paragraph technique works well and if something I try to follow now!
Thanks for SHARING your knowledge.
Wheelinallover, this is a great, simple explanation of SEO and how it works. And your reason is so right -- if we are not read, why write? I just recently (last night) started re-writing some of my older articles to make them more keyword friendly. I hope that it results in more traffic for me, because I want to be read, too!
Wheelin, I always learn so much from you. Thanks so much again! Take care.
I've read a lot of Hubs about SEO, but yours makes the most sense. I've bookmarked this one so I can go back and study more. I'm just learning about SEO. Thanks for this good info. I voted it UP, etc.
Most of the time our work gets unnoticed cause our sole attention is on writing so keywords get less important. But from we will try to do some with them. Thanks for sharing such use SEO tips.

SEO is a topic that mystifies a lot of people. It's good that you explain the basics here, so people can try to incorporate it in their hubs. Voting this Up and Useful.
Thank you for helping me along my crippled path to learning SEO. I honestly wish I could just write and not worry about these things, but I suppose it is yet another "one bad apple" situation. I dislike bad apples, possibly the broken horse would like one.
wheelinallover ,your seo tips are very practical.Specially the example you have used to teach about seo is very nice.Very useful hub.Voting it up.
A lot of useful information to digest and utilize. Thanks.
Thanks for simplifying SEO. I have a 400 page book on the subject and I think you hit the nail on the head.
Thanks for SHARING.
Thanks so much for this info. You made these SEO techniques easy to understand. I do use keywords but didn't think about using them in my summary or grouping them together in the article. I'm still learning and you are a good teacher:)
Thank you wheelinallover,I will use Simple tips for search engine optimization tips, I have been looking for something to boost my page views. I voted up and use full.

Thank your for putting SEO in simple terms. I am new to HubPages and just starting to tinkier with it. Hubs like this are very beneficial, so thanks again.
Very good info. I've been using Keywords for a while, and although I knew of using the title and repeating keywords, I had not heard of the importance of the first sentence. I will certainly give it a try!
Thanks for SHARING, will tweet this too, as it is very useful.
Very interesting -- except for the 'breaking a horse' part. Did you know the horse whisperer (Buck) has a whole different method and he teaches why breaking a horse is the absolutely worst way to go about the training of a horse. But possibly you just use that term, but don't really mean it?
It is useful for new Hubbers
Thanks for the education. I always enjoy hubs that put things in perspective. Having said that, welldone. Voted ^ & useful.
Thanks For SHARING Wheelinallover
Yes, SEO is simple, very simple. Of course when you read any article or a book. But when it comes to do it and produce results, Then you can't understand where all that theory and your high hopes disappeared. Lol. Thanks for another well written article with clear explanations. up/useful
Keep them up, Interested people will read them anyway and they can't hurt anything.
I like the way you said it's a waste of brain power to write if it's not being found. This is why I pay a lot of attention to how I use keywords when I write. And I seem to be doing well with it. But wow! I learned a few more important details from reading your Hub. I'm going to have to review this from time to time to be sure I'm taking advantage of all the methods you mentioned. Thanks. Voted up.
This was amazing. Very useful and hopefully will help me. I can write but optimization is foreign to me. Now I have to rework some things.
SEO is a world of its own. I think its best thinking about SEO prior to launching your hub. It can be done afterwards. But, I hate tampering with something that is already good to go. Obviously, audience is very important. Your tips and advice on SEO are very helpful. We do have to be careful, like you said, of not being labelled a spammer. SEO strategist sounds a lot more better than spammer. Lol. Thank you. Voted up.

This is something we keep up to date with and is more important now than ever before because we are writing website content and articles for others. It is one of the highest maintenance areas of the internet to write in. To say nothing of keeping up to date in.
