Social media and passion

The importance of social media
Social media is probably the most important consideration for anyone wishing to earn on the internet. Everything you do should be tied to it. This is important because the search engine “bots” depend highly on this type of media for the majority of how you will rank. In essence what happens within your social media will make or break you online. This doesn’t mean constantly be posting links to your fans and followers.
Most important paragraph in the article
To understand what this means you have to understand “what was” versus “what is”. In the past search engines ranked on keyword optimization and back links. While these still have some bearing they are now just a small part of the whole picture. Something which is not optimized can rank high on a search engine based mostly now by how those on your social sites react to you. Likes, tweets, and social sharing will boost your worth to a search engine. If you have no website of your own the only way people learn what makes you different and worth following is what your social sites and blogs contain.
Social media should be used for your personal passion
Your fan page for facebook needs to be based on a personal passion. There are two reasons for this. You will be more willing to post to this type of media if you are sharing your passion. People like to see the differences and similarities in others. Those help you relate on a personal level. Don’t fear distracters, if you have knowledge enough, use them to your advantage. Distracters have a way of making our blood boil and really brings out the passion in us. Handled properly a distracter will help your cause. One thing we learned is saying thank you to them will usually make them disappear after they have served their purpose.
Hobbies and interests which you are passionate about
What are your hobbies? What would you be doing if you had more money and time? Is there a subject which will get you talking for hours? Our fan page uses amateur photography, travel articles and other articles we find which we believe will give value to our fans. We point out what makes a good photograph and what mistakes we made, to help others avoid our mistakes.
Above all honesty counts. Be who you are, people will be more interested in knowing the real person than something manufactured thinking others will like it better. It has been recommended to us more than once to make an apology when we find we have made a mistake. It has also been recommended not to use the word sorry. An apology can be worded without this over used and in today’s world almost meaningless word.
Knowledge creates value
Think about those things you know a lot about or have a genuine interest in. Let your followers be your guides if gaining knowledge applies. This promotes interaction. The more interaction a search engine sees the more value it gives you. If you are just starting don’t take everything shared at face value. To gain the total truth you have to research the information given. This research will actually give you more education on the subject. It won’t take long until others will want to know what new knowledge you have gathered.
Your best effort is what it takes to succeed with social media
Take time choosing your passion. If you feel forced to do it quickly chances are in a short period of time you won’t be happy and won’t put forth your best effort. It is always going to take your best effort to succeed online. What you are “selling” is you! Once you have chosen by all means start with your social media. Waiting will cost you time and money.

Thank you Dennis for this great read, I'm taking away several nuggets to apply to our fan page and possibly creating a webpage at a later date. Continued Success.
Stay the blessing that is YOU!
Social media nowadays is the best thing to meet and build relations and communication. Almost everyone is connected to these sites.
I'm trying to take advantage of social media in a positive way. It just seems so time-consuming to me.
Appreciate the information you've provided in this hub.
Voted up and SHARED.
Interesting hub. As someone who did not grow up with the Internet, I am contantly amazed at what there is to learn and keep learning with regard to this subject.
Another great hub. Passion is definitely key and I try to show this in my writing, as it is my honest belief that even a boring subject can be interesting when explained by someone with a true passion for it.
Thanks for SHARING, up, interesting and useful.
Wow that's awesome wheelin! Maybe in the future I could try to make some side money doing presentations for people who are just learning about this. You have done quite well for yourself and it shows through your research and experience. People are lucky to have you as their teacher!
I have found much success by using social media sharing but one important thing that I found out over a period of time is it depends on your audience.
When I first joined Facebook I was only connected to friends and family and they never read or commented on my posts!
Since I have added a lot of HubPages friends and we share each other's articles, I have seen a huge increase in traffic. Audience plays an important role because only people with similar interests will be interested in reading what you share. It took me about a year to figure that out but it seems to be working now!

This is great! I love how you broke down each point into individual paragraphs. Very well written and awesome explanation of how to set up social media marketing with a personal touch. It does take some time to set up a great network but once you cross the threshold, it just gets better and better. That is where I am right now! Voted up and SHARING!

Wheelinallover...I will agree and disagree, yes you can make money from your passion. The late Corey Rudl, one of the earliest founders of internet marketing back in 1994. He did follow his passion for cars and started out on the internet selling an ebook called "Car Secrets Revealed" it was all about saving money with your car costs it contained many topics to achieve this. This became a huge success for him, and he whent on to teaching internet marketing, and made millions.
The part I disagree with, I will save for another time.
Read Your profile...wish you all the best.
I'm not quite sure what you're hub is actually aiming at. Are you talking about social media as a passtime, or are you talking about making money with an internet business using social media. It is a myth when people are told to make money with something they are passionate about. Passions are usually some kind of hobby or passtime, these things are not normally what will make money on the web. You do not want to follow your passions to make money, but you do need to be passionate about what you do,and to give value with whatever you do,wether it is through the social media sites or anywhere else. You need to give integrity and value
There is more to this than I had any idea about.

Robynroses I have seen your passion and have a hard time seeing what you could possibly take from this article. When you are ready for your website you know where to find me. If you haven't guessed by now we always over deliver.
